04/16/10   Model homes built by two builders in different neighborhoods at Verandah sold during February and March, according to Kelli Eastman, director of sales.

Verandah is the 1,456-acre master-planned community along a 1.75-mile stretch of the Orange River in Fort Myers, with two championship golf courses, private dining, dog park, nine miles of fitness trails, and a community tennis and fitness center with pool.

The Camellia model by Florida Lifestyle Homes in the Cedar Hammock neighborhood is a single-family home that offers 2,980 square feet under air. The home – oriented to the 15th hole of Whispering Oak, Verandah's Jack Nicklaus and Jack Nicklaus II co-designed golf course – features three bedrooms, three baths, great room and dining room. With a total of 4,400 square feet, the home incorporates expansive outdoor living areas with a private trellised garden off the master bath, outdoor fireplace and side-loading two-car garage.

The Camellia, certified as an environmentally friendly home by the Florida Green Building Coalition, sold in February for $660,000.

The Southern Cayman is a single-family model home by Keevan Homes in Verandah's River Point neighborhood. With more than 4,500 total square feet, the Southern Cayman features an entry porch, side-loading three-car garage and a 765-square-foot covered verandah that extends along the back of the home with a precast fireplace, summer kitchen with stainless steel gas grill, pool with a circular sun shelf and built-in planters that frame the spa.

Indoors, the model includes 2,740 square feet with three bedrooms, three-and-one-half baths, double French entry doors, great room and foyer niches. The home, also built to the certification standards of the Florida Green Building Coalition, sold in March for $730,000.

In addition to Keevan Homes and Florida Lifestyle Homes, Verandah's homebuilders include Centex Homes, A.R.B.C. Corp./Arthur Rutenberg Homes, Royal Corinthian Homes, Wyman Stokes Builder and Welch Custom Homes. These builders offer villa homes and estate, custom and traditional single-family homes in a variety of neighborhoods, including homes available for immediate occupancy.

Home and homesite packages are priced from the low $200,000s to more than $1 million, and pricing on homesites now start in the $50,000s.
